Summer School for Young Researchers and Innovators
The second summer school of MecaNano will be held July 28 - August 1, 2025 at Kassel University, in the heart of Germany. Kassel is home to the UNESCO world heritage mountain park and was elected happiest city of Germany in 2024 and 2025.
Scope
The summer school aims to provide PhD students and postdocs with a comprehensive overview of the nanomechanical field, covering both fundamental principles and recent advancements, with a strong focus on practical applications to their research projects. In detail, it will cover:
Small-scale plasticity and fracture
Experimental micro- and nanomechanical testing
Simulation and machine learning methods
Analytical characterization techniques
Soft skills for scientists
Each topic will be introduced by a trainer in a 1.5-hour session, followed by a discussion.
For this edition, we gratefully acknowledge the participation of a panel of world-classe experts in their respective fields. Their profiles and topics are introduced in the sub-menu.
The Summer School is based upon work from COST Action CA21121 MecaNano, supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology), www.cost.eu. The summer school is part of a project that has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No 949626). We gratefully acknowledge support by the University of Kassel (Universität Kassel).
